For those who feel called to train in the ways of Reiki 靈氣 along the powerful waterways and sacred power spots of Buliyum Puyuuk—also known as Mount Shasta—join STAR NATION REIKI’s 2026 cohort. Together, we dial it back to the Japanese shamanic, Shinto, and Buddhist roots of Reiki.

If preparing your vessel through Shinto and Shugendō mountain ascetic practices—such as misogi 禊, a water purification ritual of mind, body, and spirit—and immersive training in Reiki Level I (Shoden 初伝) and Level II (Okuden 奥伝) in a forest dojo deeply resonates with you, this training is for you.

Held only once a year in Mount Shasta, this six-day Reiki 靈氣 immersion welcomes beginners, seasoned practitioners of all levels, and anyone drawn to the healing arts as a spiritual path.

Here, nature becomes your teacher, and your own body becomes the vessel for transformation.

Misogi 禊 is an ancient Japanese Shinto and Shugendō–based water purification ritual that cleanses the mind, body, and energetic field. It strips away what you are not, so what you truly are can stand in right relationship with Heaven, Earth, and all beings.

Curious how Reiki 靈氣 courses through you and all living things? Wonder how it can be harnessed to restore your body’s own natural healing abilities?

Join the next cohort as we tap into what our ancestors and the ancient ones have always known.

If you feel called to purify, train, and receive Reiju 霊授 (spiritual transmission, also known as attunement) in nature, we invite you to join us for a spirit-led journey to remembering who you are.

Held in Mount Shasta, this training provides a clear and direct connection to Source and often serves as a portal—reawakening your intuition, ancestral lineage(s), and the medicine you innately carry.

While empire is collapsing and planetary frequencies are shifting, now is the time to anchor your light and fulfill your earth walk.

Open to all, this offering centers queer, trans and Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) participants.

I hadn’t known it at the time, but Marie’s decolonized, earth-aligned practice was exactly what I was missing in my Reiki practice and life journey at the time.

Working with the seasonal elements (I was part of an intimate cohort for Marie’s “Four Seasons Summer Solstice Reiki Training” in Mount Shasta), learning to build a sacred fire, purifying our energy centers underneath glacial melt waterfalls, we were cultivating a connection with the planet and her divine intelligence. The outdoor training culminated in group reiki sessions and a final reiju/attunement that came under a full moon with a simple but deeply-felt message: "believe in yourself”. Shedding tears of gratitude and relief by the reiju tent, I felt a weight lifted off my

Ooooo weeee! Learning and truly living the Shamanic and Buddhist Roots of Reiki has forever transformed my life.

After my epic training and attunement, I became activated and elevated in a way that felt like a universal upgrade. I began navigating my day-to-day life and work as a healing arts practitioner with a mighty anchor to ground in the everlasting energy source that connects us all to Mama Nature. This training planted potent seeds into my heart and hands to help me feel and harness the potent power we have forever flowing within.

Marie is an extraordinarily majestic spirit and beacon of love in this wildly hyper distracted and distorted world. The community she has weaved together is radical, revolutionary, yummy, love-filled goodness in every bite.

Marie, thank you for the transformative experience. You are wonderfully open and  fierce! You created a vulnerable yet joyful, loving, and powerful container. The love emanated from the moment I arrived and was only deepened as time went on. My heart chakra opened immensely and I continued to vibrate from the yummy deliciousness of the training for weeks afterwards.

I made 18 new friends and felt my sense of family expand. During and even after the Reiki training, I kept repeating these three words over and over again to describe my experience: ‘It’s so good!’

Reading them now, several months later, they still ring true.  It was wonderful to learn Reiki with Marie and the cohort she/they assembled; and to do it in nature and in the sacred lands and waterways of Mt. Shasta was awe-inspiring. The tools I learned have helped me through some tough times.  Reiki has brought me closer to loved ones and most importantly to myself.

I’d do it again!

Having completed level 1-2 Reiki training with Marie Morohoshi and STAR NATION REIKI was like coming home; it felt like a natural extension of my work as a healer and the spiritual work I’ve committed myself to over the decades. As a queer JA (Japanese American), I appreciated learning Reiki from Marie, whose deep roots to our culture shine in all aspects of the training, including through tracing the etymologies of the kanji characters and concepts at the core of Reiki, the connection to Shinto and Buddhist religions, and meditation and other practices we were trained in.

It was powerful to be on such beautiful and spiritually charged land, where we easily connected to nature and ourselves, and to top it off, to connect with a cohort

Answering the call from Spirit and saying yes to Reiki level 1 & 2 training with Marie has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! I’m so grateful to the container that Marie created for us and held so beautifully. The space at Hestia, the food, the icy creek and soaking mineral tubs, and the folks who were called to the training all offered the right alchemy of energy.

I came into retreat feeling I had inklings of a spiritual gift, but had no container to explore it, and here I learned how to still my body & mind so that I can be a clear vessel for Reiki energy to flow.

marie is an incredible teacher - loving, incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and firm.

Their training beautifully blends personal energetic healing and collective transformation of systems and cultures, all held in the container of accountability and allyship to Indigenous communities. It was life changing for me, between receiving healing from my human and non-human community, building my skills, and soaking in what’s possible in our healing spaces.”

When I was searching for a Reiki teacher, it was important to me to learn from someone who focused on the cultural origins of Reiki, something that often gets lost in modern Reiki teachings today.

I found that in Marie, whose Japanese-American upbringing informs and provides a unique backdrop for the lessons of Reiki and its history.

Her training on Mount Shasta is so well-curated and beautiful, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a more traditional Reiki experience.

In September of 2019, I was winding down and reflecting upon a beautifully full Summer, when I received Marie’s invitation to attend STAR NATION REIKI’S “Returning to the Shamanic and Buddhist Roots of Reiki” training retreat. I knew little about Reiki and also knew several women in my acquaintance circle who claimed to be Reiki practitioners.

I also knew that Marie was an impeccable practitioner of whatever she engaged in. She is completely intentional, focused and encompassing in what I have witnessed her undertaking.

I was intrigued and I committed myself to read the invitation thoroughly and to allow my “gut” to guide me about my next steps. Well, I awoke the next day and still felt a resounding inner “yes”, so I registered for the retreat.

CYNTHIA YEE, M.s. & REIKI Practitioner

There are no words to describe how my life has changed since being trained by Marie.

I left the Reiki training feeling more aligned with my true essence and empowered to connect with my gifts and ancestors.

Marie created a space where I truly felt seen and honored and empowered to trust my own intuition. There were so many transformative moments I experienced throughout the training, I can’t even begin to list them all. All I know is that I’ve never felt such inner peace and connectedness to nature and all things than I did when I was in Mt. Shasta.

I am forever grateful that I made the decision to take part in the “Returning to the Shamanic and Buddhist Roots of Reiki Training” with Marie. Initially I had some fears in attending

To have been trained and in presence with the depth of love and knowledge from Marie Kyoko Morohoshi, a practioner who divinely weaves and connects healing through a social justice lens, was truly an honor.

As one of her students during the 2019 “Returning to the Shamanic & Buddhist Roots of Reiki: Levels 1 & 2,” I experienced ancestral wisdom, intergenerational stories, community, healing, laughter & joy.

I cannot express how powerful it was to be taught by a Queer, Japanese-American womxn, sharing similar identities as a Queer Pinay.
