PRACTICE SITES, LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS and BEYOND

STAR NATION REIKI acknowledges that we live and create our livelihoods on the unceded ancestral homelands of our Indigenous relatives (noted below) and carry a responsibility to understand that we have inherited particular privileges as settlers because of US empire, white supremacy and colonialism. As a humble guest of these indigenous lands, we strive to uphold these truths and intentions:

STAR NATION REIKI acknowledges the Yelamu (Yeh-la-mu) and Ramaytush (Rah-my-toosh), Ohlone (O-lon-ee) who are the original inhabitants of the San Francisco Peninsula. We also acknowledge the Xučyun (Huichin “Hooch-yoon”), Ohlone (Oh-low-nee) tribes of the East Bay to include the Confederated Villages of Lisjan, and the Muwekma Tribe. We also acknowledge that STAR NATION REIKI  trainings and retreats take place in Mt. Shasta along the Winnemem Waywacket (McCloud River) waterways of the Winnemem Wintu and on Shasta Indian land.

As the Indigenous stewards of these lands, and in accordance with their traditions, these Indigenous Nations and tribes have never ceded, lost, nor forgotten their responsibilities as the original caretakers of their respective sacred and ancestral homelands, as well as for all peoples who reside in their traditional territories. This acknowledgement demonstrates a commitment to beginning the process of working to dismantle ongoing legacies of settler colonialism, and to recognize the hundreds of Indigenous Nations who continue to resist, live, and uphold their sacred and original lifeways. We also honor our Indigenous relatives past and present and commit to their future generations in making these lands and their ways sacred again.

This Land Acknowledgement not only pays respect to the rightful stewards of these lands, but hopefully inspires you and others to support Indigenous communities, and to actively learn about the Indigenous people on whose land we currently live and work on, the history of these lands, and for all of us to make a mindful commitment to be an ally to our Indigenous relatives here on Turtle Island in their resistance for cultural preservation, life ways and sovereignty.

One very direct and material way to support beyond land acknowledgements is to contribute financially to any of these efforts (listed below) working towards rematriating the land and water to their rightful Indigenous stewards, and protecting Indigenous Native American culture, which is intrinsically connected to the land.

If you live, work or visit any of these places, be sure to uplift their voices and support their legacies and lineages by donating here:
